London is the capital of the United Kingdom. The administrative structure in Greater London consists of 32 counties (boroughs) and the City of London, extending over 1584 kilometers ². The population of London is around 7.5 million however throughout Greater London about 13 million people live.

Tourist Attraction in London:

London offers a variety of attractions for the traveler. Some of which are as follows:

1 – London Eye – The second largest Ferris wheel in the world (ca.135m). The ride is will cost you about 15 €, but it offers a magnificent view of London. Duration of a ride is approximately 30 minutes.

2- Tower of London – UNESCO’s World Heritage Site and London’s royal stronghold, about 900 years old and home of the crown jewels, including the parts of the Cullinan diamond, which was the largest ever found. Entry fee is £ 16, however, various exhibitions in the interior of the Tower. If you really want to see the Tower, you should already include a few hours.

3- St. Paul’s Cathedral

4- Shakespeare’s Globe Theater – From the outside it may not be spectacular, but inside we can admire the detailed and original reconstruction of the theater where Shakespeare’s worked, even though it is about 100 yards further on, to the east.

5- Tower Bridge – There is also an exhibition for 6 pounds with a beautiful view over the Thames. When you buy a combined ticket with the monument, then a pound on top is coming, that is really worth it, because the view is fantastic. However, you should be fit for the monument, since one must climb 311 steps. The monument is a short walk.

6- Westminster Abbey – This Church has been made in the coronation ceremonies, and the majority of the British monarch is buried here. A tour takes about 1 hour, and entry fee is £10.

7- Palace of Westminster – Seat of Parliament including Big Ben. It can be visited only in a few days a year with prior notification.

8- Buckingham Palace – It is the official residence of the Queen of England. At 11.30 clock is changing of the guard, but it should be there for half an hour earlier, because of the strict rules.

9- Maritime Greenwich – Consists of the sailing ship Cutty Sark, it is the Royal Observatory, through which passes the meridian and the National Maritime Museum. It is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

10- Madame Tussauds – The world famous wax museum, whose you can view statues of famous celebrities. Entry fee is £25 although there are reductions for children. There are two entrances: one to buy tickets, with a long snake, and one for pre-booked tickets on the Internet, no waiting. Meanwhile, there are many cities “branches” of Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam and Las Vegas). In London, it is the main museum.

11- HMS Belfast – British cruiser from World War II. Entry fee is £8 for which you can roam in the ship and observe the everyday life of British soldiers and the technique of warships of World War II

Museums and Galleries in London:

London has many famous museums and exhibitions galleries. The most visited and popular is the British Museum, the Natural History Museum. Basically, for all state museums, there is no entry fee (except for special exhibitions) – this includes, for example the British Museum, Tate, Natural History Museum and Science Museum. In contrast, admission fee for the private museums are sometimes very high – for example, to Madame Tussaud Saatchi and the Tower.

12- Imperial War Museum – Extensive museum about the wars of the
20th Century, especially the first and second world war. You can see tanks, guns and a V2. A full third of the museum deals with the Third Reich information, other events such as the Falklands war, by contrast, covers only a small scale.

Parks in London:

London has some beautiful parks that are well worth seeing. They are also a popular destination of the inhabitants of London. On Sundays you can see lots of people in these parks.

1- Regent’s Park – is located north of the center at the end of Regent Street. Particularly noteworthy are the roses!
2 – Hyde Park – the largest park in the downtown
3 – Green Park and St. James’s Park, bordering on the Buckingham Palace.
4- Richmond Park – the largest park in London
