Some Facts about Cyprus
Cyprus, Greek Cyprus, Turkish Cyprus, is English and Latin Cyprus, an island in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and geographically belongs to Asia, is often considered to be politically but Europe.
Cyprus is the most forested island in the Mediterranean.
In the south of the island there are 4 major cities – Lefkosa Nicosia, the capital, located in the interior of the island, Limassol (Lemesos), the major port city, Larnaca and Paphos, where there are two international airports. To the north lies the city poll.
In the Turkish northern part of the island there are 3 major cities – the capital Nicosia, Famagusta and Kyrenia. The Ercan airport is located about 10km east of central Nicosia / Lefkosia, line connections only exist in Turkey. Cyprus applies to driving on the left.
Cyprus Language
In the Greek south is the official language of Greek. Talk is mostly of the local Greek Cypriot dialect in pronunciation and intonation sometimes considerable differences from the Festlands griechisch exhibits. As a tourist you come with English in general good, in the cities and tourist areas at least, almost everyone speaks a little English. Cottages English ability is far less widespread, however. In the north it is similar, in the Turkish north, speaks relatively good English. Older Northern Cypriots speak Greek. The official language is Turkish in the north.
